Use your Phone or Tablet to Access our Repeater System (And More) |
To use the Allstar link to access our repeater link system, you can install either one of the two apps on your phone or tablet. One app, DVSwitch, is for android devices and the other is RepeaterPhone, for the iPhone. DVSwitch is a free app and instructions for installation are below. RepeaterPhone costs $ 7.99, which is a one time fee and not a subscription. Both apps work very well for getting into the Allstar system and are not hard to set up. *********************************************************************************************************************************** The very first thing you should do for both apps is to go to allstarlink.org and click the Login/Sign Up link at the top of the page. Follow the prompts to register and wait for an email saying you have been verified. You will then receive an email to verify your email address in which you will just click on the link in the email and you are ready to login. Be sure to save or remember your login information. This whole process takes about 30 minutes but can take up to 24 hours, depending on how many volunteers are working to verify your callsign. There are other ways to get on Allstar, but that is beyond the scope of this article. (That means I don’t know how) |
DVSwitch Mobile Installation 1.You can get the app for android by going to the Play Store and searching ‘DVSwitch Mobile’ and just install it. 2. Once you get your verification from Allstar, open the app on your device. Press the ‘more’ button in center of screen. 3. Press “AllstarLink” 4. Press “WT Mode” 5. Press “AllstarLink” 6. Press “WT Setup” 7. Enter your callsign and your password used to log into the allstarlink.org website. 8. Press “update token”. 9. Press “register” 10. Press “Connect” and wait a few seconds for the app to announce the node you are connected to. 14. Press “PTT” to talk and let up to listen. Hang up when done. 15. We are also linked to the KY All-star Hub, courtesy of the Gateway Amateur Radio club in Mt. Sterling, which is node number 55904. 16. It’s a good idea to set audio levels on your device by connecting to node 55553, which is the parrot node. Just key up and talk and the automated system will tell you if you are too loud, just right or too quite. It then sends back what you said. 17. That’s it, your ready to use allstar. There are many other node all over the world you can use. Just look at the node list on the their website. *********************************************************************************************************************************** |
RepeaterPhone Installation
1. You can get the app for iphone and ipad by searching in the AppStore for ‘Repeaterphone’. It does cost $7.99, but this is a one time fee and it works very well for both Allstar and Echolink. It also has some nice features, such as a directory of Allstar nodes and echolink nodes that are searchable. Also, you can save nodes to your favorites so you will have quick access to whatever you like very quickly. 2. After you have the app installed and your Allstar verification, just open the app. 3. Click ‘Allow’ 4. Go to the settings gear icon at the bottom of the page and click on ‘New Account’ 5. Click ‘Allstar Link’ 6. Enter your callsign and password for Allstar that you got from the website. 7. You can enter info for the callsign lookup, too if you want. 8. Then all you have to do is go to the directory (the first icon on the bottom of the page) 9. You can search for KY4ARC in the directory and tap it or enter 62886. 10. That takes you to the page where you can connect and then use the green button for push to talk. 11. Of course you can look for other nodes or just browse and try some of them. 12. Also, you can click on the star beside the name of the node, after you have selected it, to save as a favorite. 13. Don’t forget to set your mic volume by going to node 55553 and transmit. It will tell you if your high or low or just right. Adjust the volumeby bringing up the slider, which is accessed by tapping the small wave and mic circle on the left side of the screen. 14. You’re all set, have fun. |
